WE’RE LOVING ….

… FASHION WITH A CONSCIENCE
The high street goes gorgeously green for the summer, and we’ve picked our favourite eco-friendly fashions.
TURNING A NEW LEAF: Dorothy Perkins marks three years of supporting the Woodland Trust with a range of four stylish T-shirts made from 100% organic cotton. For every top sold, £5 will be donated to the UK’s leading conservation charity which will enable the planting of thousands of trees in some of its 1,000 woods across the UK.
Priced at £18 each, the slogan Ts feature prominent messages such as “The Grass Could Be Greener” and “Tees for Trees” while the other two designs have printed owl and squirrel designs. The new Woodland Trust range is available in store now and online at www.dorothyperkins.com.
ORGANIC COLLECTIONS: H&M has introduced a great line of organic cotton clothing. The store will include its use of organic materials by 50% (it used 1,500 tons last spring alone), offering even more recycled clothing. The intention of the new range, which even includes jeans, is to gradually use more cotton that has been grown organically – that is without the use of chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.
New Look is also striving to reduce the environmental impact of its products. It now offers an Organic Cotton range bringing you eco-friendly tops, camisoles and cardigans in a range of fun fashionable designs and colours.
ECO FRIENDLY FOOTWEAR: For those passionate out the environment and the great outdoors, Timberland introduces two new footwear ranges featuring out-soles made using recycled rubber from discarded tyres.
Currently, more than seven billion tyres sit in landfills worldwide, leading to one of the largest and relatively unknown environmental issues. Through the use of Green Rubber proprietary and patented technologies, Timberland will help transform this waste into a valuable raw material.
REDUCING YOUR FOOTPRINT: When you venture off-road, there will be footprints left behind in the mud. Your eco-footprint is another story, and North Face has gone to great lengths to ensure many footwear styles raise the bar in environmental friendliness.
Incorporating green technology, the selection uses cork-blended midsoles, bamboo shanks, metal-free suede and plant-cellulose fibres as well as rubber from recycled tyres, to create a synthesis between substance and style.
