LES MIS RETURNS TO BIRMINGHAM

Les Mis

Last night saw the return of the world’s longest running music, Les Misérables, to Birmingham Hippodrome.

The sell-out show will be in the city for only four weeks as part of a major international tour, which began in December.

Heading the magnificent new cast is Broadway and West End star John Owen Jones, hailed by the New York Post as the best Jean Valjean since Colm Wilkinson; and West End stars Earl Carpenter as ‘Javert’ and Gareth Gates as ‘Marius’.

Despite the new cast, Les Mis still includes the old favourites like ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, ‘On My Own’, ‘Stars’, ‘Bring Him Home’, ‘Do You Hear the People Sing?’, ‘One Day More’, ‘Empty Chairs at Empty Tables’, and ‘Master of the House’.

The stunning new production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell and designed by Matt Kinley inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo.

We popped along to the opening night; if you haven’t managed to get your hands on a ticket, here’s what you’re missing…
