GET ON YOUR DANCING SHOES AT PAVILIONS

Smash Bro'z Dance

Pavilions Shopping Centre continues its support for local talent this weekend as it welcomes Hip Hop dance troop Smash Bro’z to launch their International Dance Festival pop-up dance studio.

Winners of the 2010 UK Hip Hop Dancing Championships, Smash Bro’z will be kicking off an exciting season of dancing in the centre, whilst also raising money for their trip to Las Vegas for the World Hip Hop Championships. The dancers need to raise £5k to get them to Sin City, and they hope that the weekend’s fundraising performances at Pavilions go a long way towards enabling them to represent Britain – and, of course, Birmingham – at the competition.

Smash Bro’z member Kashmir Leese said:

“Winning the UK Hip-Hop Dancing championships was incredible for us, and to represent the UK – and Birmingham – in Las Vegas would be a tremendous honour. We hope that the people of Birmingham will show up in their numbers to enjoy the performance and help us on our way to fly the flag at the World Championships. It’s fantastic that Pavilions has donated a shop unit to the International Dance Festival Birmingham, and I’m looking forward to teaching some moves to those who visit. Who knows, we could even find some Hip-Hop dancing champions of the future too!”

Following this weekend’s events, Pavilions will launch a special dance studio for the start of the International Dance Festival Birmingham (19 April-15 May). The dedicated shop unit will become home to a variety of public dance classes, performances, workshops and exhibitions throughout the festival.

Sarah Jenkinson, Head of Marketing for Pavilions said:
“The International Dance Festival Birmingham Shop is the latest in a long line of initiatives, displaying our ongoing commitment to Birmingham’s cultural and creative industries, and comes hot on the heels the successful Pop Up Art Shop which was open during the Easter break. IDFB is set to animate the city with a series of events that celebrate and embrace artistic excellence, and I’m delighted the Pavilions will act as a central hub for this activity.”

It’s definitely time for Birmingham to get on its dancing shoes.
