AN 80s REVIVAL

They were the chic girl’s choice in the 80s and now they’re back … yet this time jumpsuits are not just a fashion fad. Lisa Piddington looks at the best ways to wear this summer’s biggest trend.

Many of fashion’s followers say that jumpsuits are becoming the next big wardrobe classic, with a host of key designers, from Alexander McQueen to Stella McCartney, still putting them at the top of their next season collections.

So if, like me, you were not yet convinced that all-in-one suits were going to be a keeper, maybe it’s time to stock up on what looks like an absolute must-have. To help you make a sensible choice when buying your first jumpsuit, here are a few golden rules:

1: Nothing too tight … but nothing too baggy: Jumpsuits are designed to skim the body and highlight your feminine figure – perfect whether you are a size 6 or a 16. Go for curves and clinch in at your waist with a striking belt.

2: Pile on accessories: Most suits in the high street are one colour, and more often than nor that colour is black. Use this to your advantage and go full with metallic jewellery.

3: Fun and funky: Bold and beautiful prints bring together the summer’s key trends and will add a real touch of funky fun to your summer wardrobe.

4: Work with your body shape: For big boobed girls, best to steer clear of bandeau styles and instead flatter the figure with deep-V necklines. Long-leg jumpsuits work best on curvy frames and romper-suit styles on shorter women.
